When the world is stressful and hectic, find calm and inspiration in the art of coloring. Today I want to share with you my experience coloring a magical illustration created by talented artist Nelleke Shoemaker for Colouring Heaven in their Sorcerers and Sorceresses coloring book. It was an amazing journey into the world of magic and creativity.
The illustration I chose to color depicts a wise magician or sorcerer with a staff. It exudes experience and mystery, and I decided it would be a great project for my next creative exercise.
I purchased this coloring book in electronic format and printed it out on regular paper from my drawing sketchbook. The paper is 90 g/m², which turned out to be perfect for my colored pencils. I used a set of Koh-i-noor Polycolor colored pencils in 72 colors.
The hardest part of this process was determining the color scheme. I wanted the magic of the illustration to be accentuated by the colorful hues, but at the same time, I needed to keep a balance between the different elements of the drawing. Being of medium complexity, this illustration gave me the opportunity to experiment with different color combinations and coloring techniques.
Each pencil stroke was a step towards completing this magical picture. The time spent coloring was a moment of peace and creative freedom for me. It was a way to immerse myself in my own world of magic and enchantment.
As I completed this illustration, I felt the satisfaction of creating something unique and colorful. The results were far from perfect, but that’s where the beauty of creativity lies — in the process itself.
And so, I invite you to join me in this exciting world of coloring. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned artist, the magic is in every stroke, in every color you add to the paper. The art of coloring is a way to fulfill your fantasies and inspiration, and to find peace and joy in your own creative endeavors.
Don’t be afraid to experiment and explore new horizons in the art of coloring. You never know what magic awaits you on the next page of your coloring book.
So grab your colored pencils, find an illustration that inspires you, and dive into a world of creativity and magic. I promise you won’t regret it!
