A Scratch Book is an illustration book, but it’s not as simple as a regular coloring book. Scratch off the top layer of an illustration to reveal the colorful illustrations hidden underneath.
How it works. You take a scratching tool (usually a special stick or tool with a sharp end) and begin gently erasing the top layer of the illustration. As you scratch, bright and colorful details begin to emerge from underneath the black top layer. It’s like magic that brings your creativity to life.
I purchased my Scratch Book at the Lidl store, and it was part of a series of four books. It’s a great way to relax while turning black surfaces into real works of art.
At the end of my book there are instructions for creating your own scratch book, as well as examples of drawing on scratch sheets and tips for using a regular CD to create a scratch surface. This gives you the opportunity to not only explore the fascinating world of Scratch Book, but also to create your own unique creations.
